Fergie sets new challenge for Ronaldo

Manchester manager says Ronaldo won't make 30.

Alex Ferguson has made a new bet with Cristiano Ronaldo. The Manchester manager has challenged Ronaldo to score 30 goals in the Premier League this season. Last season Ferguson lost his bet.

Cristiano Ronaldo has scored 23 goals so far this season, 17 of which in the Premier League. But Alex Ferguson has bet that his star player won't make it to 30 by the end of the season. That's 13 goals he'll have to score in 15 games.

As to the wager, so far neither coach nor player have been forthcoming, although last season it is well known that Fergie had to cough up 600 euros. On that occasion he had bet Ronaldo he wouldn't score 15 goals all season and lost.

After losing Ferguson told SIC he hadn't wanted to pay up but he was already working on a tougher bet this season to get his money back.

Cristiano Ronaldo is the top scoring player in all of Europe this season. He closed his tally in 2007 as the best goalscorer in Europe, having scored 60 goals in 35 games, at the service of Manchester United and Portugal.
