Messi was given a rest by coach Pep Guardiola in Barcelona's 2-1 win over Levante. The Argentine, who watched the match from the Camp Nou stands, was granted extra days off following his return from his homeland during the Christmas break.

Cristiano Ronaldo (Getafe 2-3 Real Madrid)

Ronaldo took advantage of Messi's match absence to race ahead in the Pichichi race after bagging two more goals.
